Canon EOS 600
Release year: 1989
I bought this beauty in an Ebay auction, also cheap as chips, and it came with 2 lenses in immaculate condition. One of the lenses is for long distance zooming, so I'm very happy with this bargain. This camera is the third to be released in the EOS series, which uses the newer EF lens mount and has automatic focus technology built into its lenses. This is one of the very first SLR cameras from which all of the modern SLRs and DSLRs descend.
Special features and specs:
- Autofocus SLR from Canon, introduced 1989.
- Motorized film advance (and rewind)
- Able to reach 5 fps in one-shot AF mode.
- Shutter speeds range from 30 sec to 1/2000 sec with B mode. X-sync is at 1/125 sec.
Canon EOS 500
I also got a Canon EOS 500. It seems to be in working order, and it's a pretty good camera. Unfortunately, it has a well-known problem of having a sticky handle because the plastic material Canon used on the grip turns sticky with age as it disintegrates (I've tried all sorts of chemicals to remove it but had no luck, so I stuck some paper over it and it worked a charm). I tested it out with a roll of 200 ISO film and a 70mm Sigma zoom lens. I also got myself a Holga lens which I used on this camera. The Holga lens gets a lot of good reviews and praise online for the nostalgic effect it gives to the photos.
